We have met a couple of times so far. But today was a big day as Anirban laid his young hands on this BIG book of Economics. Although this edition dates back to 1993, I find this book immensely pleasurable to read even in 2024. Joseph Stiglitz, the author of this wonderful book on economics, is a well-known to many readers who enjoy reading articles on global economic condition. Stiglitz is a former Professor of Economics in Stanford University and economic advisor to several US Presidents. However, for me, Stiglitz's greatest contribution is writing this UNIQUELY designed book that has strangely-witty titled essays, and topics are arranged in a most innovative way. For instance, the first chapter is titled "The Automobile and Economics", where he will introduce a good number of economic activities and then move on to explain these in relation to a regular consumer (the reader). I am very happy that Anirban, currently in eighth grade, finds the book interesting as well. We will write more about our reading in the next posts.
