Grad School with GRE/GMAT

The Following Info is updated for 2025-26 year.

Graduate School Application is Completely different from what you expect in Undergraduate Application program. Grad Schools are of different kinds as you can go for MA and MSc to PhD in many disciplines and your application materials will include many professional items which we do not use during Undergraduate applications. Graduate School Application can be subdivided into three broad categories:
  1. MSc or PhD application in STEM subjects
  2. MSc or PhD in Engineering Subjects
  3. MBA in Business Schools / MS or Masters in Business Subjects

Most colleges will accept GRE while GMAT is specifically required by only a handful of Business Programs. So, giving GRE gives you a wide option of subjects. You must remember that having a good GPA gives you a fair advantage. But there are lot to be done in terms of hunting your Professorial Guide who will be willing to provide both academic guidance and Funding.

Prior to applying to Grad Schools you should also go for identifying your Research Interests. It is also strongly advised that you keep a strong Professional Presence in terms of maintaining a Linkedin, personal website, Instagram page etc.

Below find the current GRE test format. In most cases the GRE Test will be conducted at American Alumni Association (AAA) Delta Dahlia Tower, 3rd Floor 36 Kemal Ataturk Ave, Banani, Dhaka.220

GRE Test fee = 220 US$ (25,000 BDT approx.)

  2. Verbal & Quantitative বিভাগে প্রতিটি স্কোর হবে 130–170 পয়েন্টের মধ্যে
  3. VERY Good GRE Score is = 320 (out of 340), a score that gives a guaranteed admission.
  4. Applying WITHOUT GRE is often ALLOWED. But the chances of Assistanceship is LOW. That means that you pay full.
  5. Applying WITHOUT a Research Paper is always possible - but again, GOOD universities will always expect a Research Paper - if possible - PUBLISHED Paper.
  6. Grad School Application is quite expensive - average 100 US$ (12,000 Taka) per application. So, we often apply to 5-6 colleges at best. This is a STANDARD number of colleges in other countries.
  7. The SECRET of a Successful Grad-school application is SOP and a great Resume. It looks simple, but should be written after a HUGE amount of Research + Brainstorming + Backward Link Establishment. You may ask what is this "Backward link establishment" and I am ready to answer.
  8. Application Deadlines will start from November and good universities close by January. So, plan accordingly.
  9. For English Proficiency test, go for either IELTS/TOEFL. Make sure you go to BRITISH COUNCIL for registration.

  1. Thank you very much for your pointed observation. My experience with lower GRE score is not too alarming. The student named Suraiya in the above post later applied to 5 US universities and received admission from Purdue with a 60% in assistance. You can contact her through FB if you need to hear from her. Do mention that you had been in contact with Great Bengal Circus. Thank you!
